In honor of his life and witness\, the National Shrine will bring his relic from the Apparition Oratory to the Apparition Chapel for veneration that day. \nAll are welcome to attend and pray with this holy bishop on his feast day! \nSt. John Neumann was a missionary priest and the fourth Bishop of Philadelphia. Born in Bohemia\, he came to the United States to serve the growing Catholic population\, especially immigrants. He is remembered for his deep devotion to the Eucharist\, his care for the poor\, and his work to establish Catholic schools. In 1977\, he became the first male American bishop to be canonized a saint.

DESCRIPTION:Join us for one of The National Shrine of Our Lady of Champion’s longest-standing and most beloved traditions: the Feast of the Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary. \nThis historic tradition began in 1861 with Servant of God Adele Brice herself\, and for generations\, families and pilgrims have gathered on The Shrine grounds to honor Our Lady on this great feast day. \nThe day will begin with Mass at 11:30 AM\, celebrated by Bishop Donald J. Hying\, Bishop of Madison. Following Mass\, pilgrims are invited to take part in a beautiful Eucharistic Rosary Procession around The Shrine grounds\, continuing this sacred tradition of prayer\, devotion\, and trust in Our Blessed Mother. \nLater in the day\, a Rosary will be led by Fr. Richard Heilman of the 54-Day Rosary Novena\, offering pilgrims another powerful opportunity to gather in prayer and entrust their families\, parishes\, and intentions to Our Lady. \nThis is a wonderful day to bring your family\, prayer group\, parish\, or friends for a pilgrimage to Champion. After the procession\, stay and enjoy a family cookout with burgers\, hot dogs\, and fellowship on The Shrine grounds.
