Digital Communications Coordinator

If you have an eye for design and a heart for sharing the faith through social media, this position may be for you! The National Shrine of Our Lady of Champion is seeking a Digital Communications Coordinator to be part of the Shrine team.

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:
This part-time 25-hour per week Digital Communications Coordinator position is responsible for creating, updating, and maintaining digital content on the National Shrine’s channels. The goal is to deliver excellent digital resources and meaningful digital communication that both fosters and builds upon the Shrine’s faithful and fast-growing community. The ideal candidate will know how to create visually engaging digital content for a variety of audiences. By ensuring all digital content is accurate, appealing, easy to find, and easy to navigate, the Digital Communications Coordinator will play a key role in raising the awareness of the National Shrine of Our Lady of Champion, furthering its mission, and increasing engagement among target audiences.

K: Knowledge

  • Minimum associate degree in communications, journalism, digital marketing, new media, English, or related field, or equivalent experience.
  • Experience in corporate or non-profit communication or marketing.
  • Minimum 2 years as a web content/social media professional in a fast-paced environment with content creation, distribution, maintenance, and evaluation responsibilities.
  • Understanding of the Catholic Church, its teachings and practices.
  • Understanding of the National Shrine of Our Lady of Champion.
  • Strong working knowledge of widely used social networks, social analytics, social content management tools, online marketing channels, and techniques.
  • Experience with blog and content writing for the web.

S: Skills

  • Experience creating digital content, including but not limited to content creation within the Adobe Creative Cloud (InDesign, Illustrator, Lightroom, and Premiere) and Canva.
  • Proficiency in Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint.
  • Experience with maintaining blog and social media production calendars.
  • Experience in the development of social media posts, reels, and stories.
  • Moderation of social media and user-generated content in line with organizational culture and policies.
  • Experience with multichannel digital media campaigns.
  • Maintain and manage mixed media content within a digital content library.
  • Familiarity with WordPress and the basic web development skills needed to support it.
  • Basic photography and video.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  1. Social Media
    1. With the Director of Communications, develop and execute a comprehensive social media strategy across platforms.
    2. Support the creation of engaging and shareable social media content that reflects the Shrine’s mission and values.
    3. Distribute content for and monitor social media channels, respond to comments, and foster online community engagement.
  2. Content Creation
    1. Collaborate with the Director of Communications to gather content and stories for publication.
    2. Collaborate on and craft compelling blog articles that align with the Shrine’s audience and mission.
    3. Support the generation of creative and informative assets, including graphics, images, and videos, for various digital platforms.
    4. Ensure brand consistency across all digital assets.
    5. Proof print and digital content produced for the Shrine.
    6. Keep up to date on emerging content creation trends and techniques.
  3. Videography and Photography
    1. Work with the communications team to capture high-quality photos and videos of Shrine events and activities.
    2. Support the editing and production of multimedia content for use on the Shrine’s website and social media.
    3. Collaborate with team members to plan and execute photo and video shoots.
  4. General Communications
    1. Coordinate with other Shrine team members to develop meaningful digital communication for their departments.
    2. Respond positively and proactively to internal and external inquiries, comments, and suggestions.
    3. Perform other duties as assigned by the Communications Director.
