Communications Specialist
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:
The Communications Specialist supports the daily communications operations of the Shrine, helping to share the message of Our Lady of Champion and the story of Adele Brice with pilgrims around the world. This role works closely under the Communications Director to assist in the creation, coordination, and implementation of all communications, media, and print initiatives that promote the Shrine’s mission. This includes, but is not limited to, event marketing, digital communications, website updates, social media content, email newsletters, and the design of print materials such as newsletters, signage, brochures, and worship aids. The ideal candidate has experience in design and has a marketing mind. An organized, detail-oriented, and creative team player who thrives in a collaborative, faith-filled environment.
MINIMUM KNOWLEDGE, EXPERIENCE AND SKILLS REQUIRED:

- Associate’s Degree or equivalent experience in Communications, Marketing, Graphic Design, or a related field
- 3-5 years of experience in corporate, non-profit, or faith-based communications
- Strong working knowledge of current print, web, and digital media platforms, and proven experience developing and implementing marketing campaigns
- Familiarity with the Catholic Church’s teachings, traditions, and an understanding of the mission of the National Shrine of Our Lady of Champion
- Commitment to ongoing professional development and openness to learning tools such as Asana and Constant Contact
- Strong verbal and written communication skills with the ability to craft clear, faith-filled messages for diverse audiences, including pilgrims, media, and internal staff
- Skilled in writing, graphic design, photography, and/or video creation to support both print and digital outreach
- Excellent organizational, multitasking, and project management skills to handle multiple marketing projects and deadlines simultaneously
- Experience and proficient knowledge with Microsoft Office, Adobe Creative Suite, Canva, WordPress, and social media management tools
- Ability to work both independently and collaboratively as part of a mission-driven team.
- Strong creative thinking and attention to detail in producing high-quality, visually appealing materials.
- Ability to share faith-based messages effectively through digital storytelling, video, and social media content
- Understanding of promotional strategy, branding, and campaign development with creative storytelling that advances the Shrine’s mission
- Competence in making WordPress edits, managing newsletters, and assisting with AV or multimedia needs during events
- Comfortable working in a fast-paced environment with shifting priorities while maintaining quality and consistency
- Attuned to the communication needs of the Shrine, ensuring that all marketing efforts reflect the mission and message of Our Lady of Champion
Part-Time Sales Associate/Cashier
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES: This part-time, 24 hour per week position, assists in the day-to-day operations of the Shrine of Our Lady of Champion Gift Shop and Cafe. This person will be in charge of the gift shop and café and is responsible for its operation in the absence of the manager and will work closely with the manager to keep all transaction records up-to-date and accurate.
- Graduate from High School (or GED equivalent) with customer service experience preferably in a retail environment.
- Experience supervising others a plus.
- Computer/cash register experience necessary.
- Accurately handle monetary transactions.
- Strong verbal communications skills.
- Proficient with computer and cash register and adding machine.
- Flexible with good listening skills and multi-tasking skills.
- Good organizational skills.
- Make decisions and take charge in manager’s absence.
- Excellent customer service skills.
- General knowledge of windows-based computer systems.
- Experience working on a computerized inventory control system.
- Excellent interpersonal skills are essential.
- Fast thinker with ability to work in a fast-paced environment required.
- Comfortable working with public.
- Meet changing conditions and solve problems in professional manner.
