Building and Grounds Maintenance

If you enjoy working with your hands and being part of a team for Jesus and the Blessed Mother, this position may be for you! The National Shrine of Our Lady of Champion is seeking a Building and Grounds maintenance person to be part of the Shrine team.

This full-time (40 hrs./wk.) position is responsible for maintaining the buildings and grounds of the National Shrine of Our Lady of Champion and assuring its pleasant and safe operating conditions for the many pilgrims visiting.

KNOWLEDGE, EXPERIENCE AND SKILLS:

  • Requires high school diploma or equivalent.
  • 2-3 years of maintenance experience.
  • Must be 21 years of age due to operating a motor vehicle as part of their job.
  • Must have a valid driver’s license.
  • Verbal and written communication skills.
  • Mechanical skills required.
  • Use of hand and power tools for the common trade.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, Word and Outlook.
  • Detail-oriented, minor maintenance, and troubleshooting ability.
  • Ability to take direction and on the job training.
  • Comply with OSHA Safety and Health rules.
  • Work in active team environments.

We are seeking an individual with 2-3 years of experience in maintenance work, a high school diploma, and a driver’s license. The ideal candidate will possess a strong mechanical aptitude, knowledge of basic carpentry, electrical, plumbing, drywalling, and boiler systems, excellent troubleshooting skills, and be personable and self-directed.
