“What more can I do, dear Lady?” – Adele to Our Blessed Mother, 1859

A Priceless Gift

In the 1859 Apparition, Our Blessed Mother said to Adele, “What are you doing here in idleness while your companions are working in the vineyard of my Son?”

Adele then asked, “What more can I do, dear Lady?”

Many pilgrims who have come to the shrine have asked this similar question in prayer and received a call to share their time and talents with the Shrine in the form of volunteering.

The mission given to and carried forth by Adele from our Lady all those years ago has continued through the service of others, especially through the dedication of our clergy, staff, and generous volunteers who truly understand “it is far more blessed to give than to receive” (Acts 20:35).

Volunteering at the Shrine can range from a weekly or monthly commitment on a day and in a season that works for you to helping once per year at an event of your choice. Volunteer areas include the gift shop and café, flower gardens and groundskeeping, visitor guides, event car parking, and many more. We will work with you on a schedule that fits your other life commitments and encompasses your interests and unique talents.

Current Needs

If you are looking to give back, find peace and share your faith, there is no better place to serve Jesus and His Mother than here at her Shrine! We are in most need of the following volunteer positions:

  • Gift Shop/Cafe on Saturdays or Sundays
  • Ushers on Saturdays or Sundays

“I love to greet the pilgrims and make them feel welcome. The smiles that come across the faces of those who are visiting is so heartwarming. We are sharing the love of Our Lady with them.”

– Barb, Volunteer at the National Shrine of Our Lady of Champion
