A Humble Place of Peace
Lourdes, Fatima, Guadalupe and Champion are all part of a select group of places worldwide where the Blessed Virgin Mary is believed to have appeared.
The National Shrine of Our Lady of Champion is the first and only approved Marian Apparition site in the United States and Canada. Located in Champion, Wisconsin, it covers and preserves the peace-filled grounds where Mary, the mother of Jesus, appeared to Adele Brise in 1859, identifying herself as “The Queen of Heaven who prays for the conversion of sinners.”
Our Mission
To continue the gospel mission of Jesus Christ by responding to Mary’s call to Adele Brise to foster conversion, teach the children and minister to the sick and old.
In a spirit of humility and simplicity, the Shrine is:
- A welcoming sanctuary of peace inviting all to grow in their relationship with Her Son, Jesus
- A destination for pilgrims who seek healing of mind, body, and soul
- An environment that fosters the teaching of the Catholic faith to children and adults
- A place to encounter Jesus in the Sacrament of the Eucharist, Reconciliation, and Anointing of the Sick, for the salvation of all throughout the world
At shrines, the means of salvation are to be supplied more abundantly to the faithful by diligent proclamation of the word of God, the suitable promotion of liturgical life especially through the celebration of Eucharist and of penance, and the cultivation of approved forms of popular piety. –Canon 1234

Please see our Daily Schedule for all Shrine events.
While the Shrine does host year-round activities and events, some of its most popular include the Walk to Mary in May, Assumption Day (August 15), and the Anniversary of the Miracle of the Fire (October 8 and 9).

To date, there has not been a cause opened for the canonization of Adele Brise, the visionary to whom the Blessed Virgin Mary appeared. Pilgrims, in their time of need, are encouraged to ask for the intercession of Adele Brise with Our Lady of Champion, in the hope that, with prayers answered, a cause may later be opened for canonization.
There are many ways to support the Shrine, both in-person and from your home. The Shrine accepts monetary donations through its Memorial Brick Program, Good Helper Program, Candle Lighting Program, and through general donations via cash, check, or online.
Those looking to support the Shrine by bringing a greater awareness to its mission can become an Ambassador. Through these resources, anyone can share upcoming events and happenings with one’s own parish and community.
If looking for on-site opportunities, the Shrine always is looking for volunteers who can either help regularly around the grounds or during special events. To learn more, visit our Volunteer Page.
Finally, the Shrine asks for your prayers to further its mission and Our Lady’s message to the whole world.
The Shrine is always looking for volunteers to assist in its everyday needs and at large events. From helping at the gift shop to driving golf carts during its October 8th celebrations, volunteers of all ages and skill level are appreciated.
To become a volunteer, you can either fill out our online volunteer interest form or contact our volunteer coordinator by emailing volunteer@championshrine.org or calling 920-866-2571×123.
