Personal veneration is available in the Chapel during the hour before the 11:30 a.m. Mass, offering quiet time for prayer and reflection.

St. Maria Goretti’s feast day is on July 6. In honor of her life and witness, the National Shrine will bring her relic from the Apparition Oratory to the Apparition Chapel for veneration that day.

St. Maria Goretti is remembered for her purity, courage, and forgiveness. As a young girl, she chose to remain faithful to Christ even in the face of violence and offered forgiveness to her attacker before her death. Her witness continues to inspire the faithful to live lives of holiness, mercy, and love.
