Personal veneration is available in the Chapel during the hour before the 11:30 a.m. Mass, offering quiet time for prayer and reflection.

St. Pope Pius X’s feast day is on August 21. In honor of his life and witness, the National Shrine will bring his relic from the Apparition Oratory to the Apparition Chapel for veneration that day.

St. Pope Pius X served the Church with humility and dedication, guiding the faithful at the beginning of the twentieth century. He is especially remembered for encouraging frequent reception of the Eucharist and allowing children to receive First Holy Communion at a younger age. His motto, “To restore all things in Christ,” reflected his deep desire to renew the spiritual life of the Church.
