From the Reliquary Repository at National Shrine of Our Lady of Good Help: a first-class relic of St. Matthias, the Apostle,
In the tradition of Adele Brise, whose life’s work and mission was inspired by an instruction she received on Shrine grounds by our Blessed Mother in 1859, to “Gather the children in this wild country and teach them what they need to know for salvation…” The National Shrine of Our Lady of Good Help offers many opportunities on site and through livestreaming for catechetical encounter in prayer activities, devotions, reflections, adoration, veneration and administration of the sacraments.
As an international holy site and site of the only Church-approved Marian Apparition in the United States of America, The National Shrine of Our Lady of Good Help holds in its relic repository in the Apparition Oratory in the lower level of the Apparition Chapel, many first-class relics of saints and all the Apostles. While the relics may be viewed in this encased repository in the Apparition Oratory at Champion any day of the week, 365 days a year, individual first-class relics are brought up the Apparition Chapel for open veneration on their respective feast days and for special events.
On the Feast Day of St. Matthias, May 14, Champion Shrine will host open veneration between 7 AM and 5 PM in the upper Apparition Chapel on Shrine grounds.
Should you wish to bring blessed items to touch to the relic, you may do so at this time at the time of open veneration. Religious items are also available on site, in the Shrine gift shop, with times for blessing of these items offered daily, in addition to blessings held at Mass.
