(Catholic Vote) At the site of the only approved Marian apparition in the United States, Catholics will gather this summer to celebrate the saints and holy men and women who helped shape the faith in America as the nation approaches its 250th anniversary. The National Shrine of Our Lady of Champion in Wisconsin will host a “Catholic Saints of America” celebration from July 1–9 that features a novena, relic veneration, and an exhibit on American saints, blesseds, and venerables. The shrine’s website states that the exhibit was inspired by St. Carlo Acutis’ exhibit of Eucharistic Miracles. “This spiritual initiative,” the website continues, “invites all pilgrims to join in prayer for our country, to draw inspiration from those who have gone before us, and to renew our commitment to living lives of holiness.” The event will

This May, thousands of pilgrims will come home to Mary where she made her presence known in Wisconsin, among them, the Allex family who share the fruits of pilgrimage to Our Lady. This is the ninth year that Kym Allex and her family are pilgrims in the Walk to Mary. Their first year was marked with their growing family of six children in tow, and while two new children have joined the Allex family since that first year, Kym shares that each year the Walk has been a fruit in the lives of their children.

IN THE NEWS: Life-sized statue of Our Lady of Guadalupe visits National Shrine of Our Lady of Champion
CHAMPION (WLUK) -- A life-sized statue of Our Lady of Guadalupe is making a stop in Northeast Wisconsin on its international tour. The statue, which is based at the Basilica of Our Lady of Guadalupe in Mexico City, is traveling to sites all around the world ahead of the 500th anniversary of the Virgin Mary’s appearances to St. Juan Diego in Mexico. The exhibit will be on display at the National Shrine of Our Lady of Champion through Tuesday. David Ricken, bishop of the Diocese of Green Bay, celebrated an opening mass Friday. "The visit carries special significance, as the 1531 apparitions in Mexico and the 1859 apparitions to Servant of God Adele Brice in Champion, Wisconsin are the only Marian apparitions in North America officially recognized by the Catholic Church," a news release states.
